Logistics

In order to keep the team running, we had to manage the transportation of robots and equipment between facilities and competitions, as well as the construction and maintenence of the practice field. I helped the team with this, with organizing and renting equipment, and coordinating team efforts for transportation.

2020

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we had to leave the practice field facility since it would be used for COVID-19 related purposes. We first had to disassemble everything for it to be stored temporarially at the facility. We placed everything on pallets so it could be moved and stored easily.

A couple months later, we were called to completely remove our equipment from the facility. To do this, we rented a trailer and assembled a group of team members to bring all the equipment to my family's house, where it would be stored temporarially.

2021

While we were still in the pandemic, FIRST decided to host a series of at-home challenges, which required us to create a practice field. Since we did not have access to any facilities, I had to set up my family's garage as a practice field. The first step to this was getting a 200lbs+ 16'x30' carpet from the team storage container to my family's garage. Since we did not want to rent any equipment, we decided to fit it into my family's Chevy Bolt EV, which required a lot of creativity. First we folded it, and then used wood planks as a ramp to slide it up partially into the rear. This was done with 2 people total.
