Steering Wheel Schematic and PCB

Sept 2022

Throughout August and September, I worked on creating a PCB in Altium Designer for a custom steering wheel that would handle input signals from buttons and knobs, and transmit them over the CAN bus. This was the first PCB that I designed so I worked mainly with more senior members to learn the ropes of Altium. On the board, there is power regulation, which consists of an LDO, fusing, capacitors, and diodes, an STM32 microcontroller, and an automotive grade CAN transciever to communicate with the rest of the car. This board was manufactured and used during the 2023 competition season for the Formula Hybrid+Electric competition in New Hampshire.

Dashboard Electronics enclosure

Sept 2022

Throughout August and September, I worked with group members to design an enclosure using SOLIDWORKS that would house all the electronics needed for a dashboard including indicator lights and a screen. It would also house the Main Processing Unit, Telemetry Control Unit, and Wireless Telemetry hardware. The access panel for the interior is on the bottom of the box to allow for easy waterproofing.

Steering wheel and steering column

Sept 2022

Throughout August and September, I worked with group members to design a custom steering wheel and steering column using SOLIDWORKS. The design includes mounting holes for buttons and knobs, as well as custom flappy paddles. The design also includes room for electrical connectors to pass through the quick disconnect and steering column.
