First Drive Test

Mar 2022

On Mar 25, 2022, we performed our first driving test. Leading up to this test, I had been working closely with the battery box team, preparing high voltage cables, milling mounting brackets, and performing other miscellaneous tasks.

Battery segment assembly

Feb 2022

One of the first major projects that I helped out on was rebuilding and improving the battery segment cases, which are made of Garolite G10 panels. Previously, it used small bolts and threaded inserts to connect the panels, but we ran into problems such as threads stripping and bolt heads shearing. To improve this, we switched to #4 shoulder bolts, which involved removing the threaded inserts, drilling out the holes, and then tapping the holes. There was also some human error when manufacturing the panels, since the holes would sometimes not line up. To solve this, I had to use a milling cutter on a dremel tool to turn the misaligned holes into slots until they lined up.

NERduino schematic symbol

Jan 2022

This was the first project I was assigned to, and involved creating a schematic symbol for the NERduino, a custom PCB for NER (Northeastern Electric Racing), based off of an arduino uno R3. Through this project I learned to navigate and use KiCAD, Altium, and Github.
